Chapter 10 questions
1. What is unity as it applies to design.
Unity is a group of elements put together so that harmony can be met. Though to much Unity gets pretty boring and no one wants to look at that to long.
2. How can the grid be used as a layout tool?
The grid is used as a tool so that everything is aligned and it looks crisp.
3. How do a grid layout and a nongrid layout differ?
Basically the nongrid layout does not use the grid interface layout. In the book it says that it simulates things, so it does not look like a flat page.
4. Give an example of a metaphor used in a nongrid layout
they are common metaphors. Like on the computer your trash looks like a trash can.

open mike post
So ummm I really want to talk about computer graphics...either in movies and in games. Like how the rendering proses takes place. How long it takes. What kinda computer would you need to do that so on and so forth. Also it would really be cool to learn or talk about how to draw concept art. I am a huge fan of blizzard games, like Starcraft Diablo and Warcraft , warcraft 3 not the World of Warcraft. I have looked at a lot of the concept are for the new games Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3 that are going to coming out sometime next year and I a noticed that there is a a certain style to it. and it is kinda the same for all concept are for games. I was just wonder how or what they used to draw it. That is pretty much all that i would like to talk about.

Wk4 Blog - Magazines
I chose this magazine mostly because of the content. I love computer games so I love to read about the new ones that are coming out and the reviews on the ones that are out. Also the cover picture is pretty sweet. Most teens would look at the magazine if they saw that.I picked the National Geographic one because the main picture was kinda ahhh inspiring. That is pretty much the only reason.
I picked the ESPN magazine because look at that sweet cover. And it probably has a article in there about Micheal Phelps smoking weed and getting in trouble so that is always fun for a good laugh.
Chapter 7&8 questions

1. How things feel or how the look like they would feel. It also brings out emotion in people.
2. Texture makes the image more realistic and makes you want to touch the image
3. It is used to simulate a surface by making an image look like it was drawn on a wall or paper
4. Value to show the extreme lights and darks on a surface.

6. The scale of the image can be lost in the background filters.
7. It can take the focus from the main image away.
8. yes it can.
chapter 8.
1. subtractive shows the viewer what the light the object does that absorb. Additive mixes the light to make the color.
2. additive
3. red green blue
4. yellow magenta cyan
5. Red Yellow Blue

chapter 5&6 questions
chapter 5
1.Shape can be thought of what two design elements.
Lines and Value
2. What is the term for the shape of a three-dimensional object?
it is called volume
3. Can a shape alone give enough visual information to allow for the identification of an object
yes very much so.. the only example that came to mind though is the mudflap girl. She is just a shadow but you know that it is the naked trucker girl or the mudflap girl.
4. How can negative space be used to form a shape that enhances an image?
dark values will look darker when next to a lighter background. so even though the ball is gray the negative space may look it like is round or has volume.
5.Can the parts of an image be mentally grouped together through shape association?
the mind will associate colors with colors, shapes with shapes, and also shapes that other objects make with implied lines.
6.Can separate objects be arranged to form specific shapes?
yes like the to faces that are blacked out. they are kissing and the negative space between them makes a vase.
Chaper 6
1. What is value as it applies to design.
Value is the different shapes of lights and darks.
2.How does color affect value
color is affected by value because you can make colors lighter or darker.
3.Does a greater range of value generally increase or decrease detail in an image
it increases. The greater the detail means more pixels which in turn means more little tiny squares that can be filled up be a color.
4. What is chiaroscuro.
it is the use of light to make the illusion of depth.
5. How does the position of a light source affect value.
it affects value because it is the reason why there is value and where the light sides and the darks sides of the objects are.
6. What is the preferred direction of light in an image.
from the top left
7. How does relativity affect value
for example a shape will appear darker against a lighter background
8. If a darker area of value is shown next to a lighter area, what happens to the appearance of the darker area.
It appears to be even darker.

Wk3 Blog - Line & Shape
we started working on line and shape in class. learning about all the different types of lines. I have noticed the implied lines even in nature now. Like for example a tree branch point out from the tree will take my eyes that way. I have just relized how many implied lines are everywhere.

Week 2 thoughts
I took a lot of art classes in high school one year of drawing and then another year of just art. On that note the reading didn't really change my thoughts about using space in a drawing or paintings.
In my art classes my teacher was very much into using all space and I don't mean using the entire paper. I mean using all of the types of space. Also she showed us how to use illusionary lines to help make that space stick out so it was very important part in all of our drawings.
I think the curve for new technology as far as resolution and graphics is about to level out. yes it is going to keep on growing the the cameras and the programs like photoshop are now going to be able to keep up with what is going on. Soon phones will be able to be ran in 1270, by 900 and in HD. So there isn't going to be that speed bump there trying to make web-pages look good on phones.

Chapter 4 questions
1. A contour drawing is a drawing that fallows the outside edge of the object
2. You can use thickness of a line to add depth to objects to make them appear 3D
3. Actual line - are all the lines that are on the paper. Implied line is a line that is not there but certain things in the composition draws you eyes in a direction.
4. Hatching is a way of shading but with lines.
5. It will make it edgy and look bad

Chapter 3 questions
1. Basic format is how to use the physical space that you are give but now with new media and technology it is much more. You need to watch the size and the resolution of the picture you are making so that all medias can view it nicely. Using the space that you are given is very important in format. You have to make it look appealing to you audience so a lot of white space or no white space at all.
2. Positive space is the space that the objects take up on the paper. Like the squares in my last post those would be the positive space.
3. The negative space is the rest of the the paper or the white space. it is the nothing in the picture, but in so cases the negative is what makes the picture appealing.
4. Illusionary space is what artist use to make 2D objects look 3D. it gives depth to objects that don't have any.
5. The object that is farther away from the viewer would seem small because our eyes read it that way.
6. The closer the object on a paper the lower it would be on the page.
7. They would apear darker because our your eyes will not pick up the light reflections from that object if it is farther away.
8. Objects that are closer to the viewer do appear sharper because our eyes can see through the dust at a close distance.

emotions
This is my anger picture, and just to let you know most of the pictures you see of the squares will look like faces. I made it look like that cause when you do get angry your face does kinda scrunch you and your eyes tilt inwards.
I did this because when people or animals are content just relax and and just calm. I think that the 3 small squares with all of the white around them makes it seem calm. There isn't alot going on here, not a lot of excitement
Yes it does look like a face I know, but it was the only thing I could think of to make excitement with squares. I did this though because when people get excited they mouth most likely will get really big and I made the eyes I guess you could say small to emphasize the size of the mouth.
So like anger the eyes are tilted but instead of inward they are tilted outward. When little kids get scared you can kinda see their eyes do that, now that might be also because they are about to cry cause they are scared but who knows.
So I made joy look like this because like when you open a xmas present your eyes get really big. I would say that I am pretty joyful when i get a present I want. I made the mouth small to show how big the eyes were.

Week 1 post
People that create for a living notice everything around them in a different way. They see things and think, How can this be combined with something else to make something new.
Ways that I can try to become more creative is by taking pics and writing down things that interest me and then if i see something that I can combine with them or some way to edit them to make then look cool or different or just weird. Today in class we played a game where you take bands and combined them with book titles if they have something in common. Then we switched to bands and movies cause the book thing wasn't going so well. This is what I came up with:
Johnny Got His Guns N Roses - Johnny Got His Gun & Guns N Roses
Rage Against the Time Machine - Time Machine & Rage Against the Machine
Rolling Thunder Stones - Thunder Stones & The Rolling Stones
The Scorpions King - The Scorpion King & The Scorpions
Man In the Iron Maiden - Man in the Iron Mask & Iron Maiden
The Toy Soulja Boy - The Toy Solider & Soulja Boy
